Dealing with an Overly Dramatic Mom-in-law
There are lots of wives whose problem is not with their husbands, but rather with their mothers-in-law. Having an oversensitive and melodramatic mom-in-law is really bothersome. Most of the time, she can be too much to handle. Having one will surely make your life as dramatic as the the soap opera you watch on TV. To end the childish behavior of your mom-in-law, you can talk to her out about this. Just make sure that you use the right approach to prevent more dramatic encounters.
Dealing with a mom-in-law who has addiction to drama
Before you make any move to approach your mom-in-law, you have to understand first why she acts that way. Some mothers feel that their children have no more need for them, now that they have their own family. They become insecure, and in order to cope with this feeling, they seek to gain control and upper hand by meddling with other’s affairs or by making a big deal out of everything. Because of that insecurity, they become so touchy and easily offended with no valid reason at all. When you know the reason why your mother-in-law acts this way, you can then think of the best away to approach her.
Approaching your mom-in-law with her problem
It is not easy to deal with a mother-in-law who seems to have an addiction to drama. It seems that you have to watch out for everything that you do or say in order not to tread on your mom-in-law’s sensitivities, or else, face a whole day of tears and dramatic monologue. So in approaching your mother-in-law, you have to use a certain strategy so as not to make her touchy. If you think that she is just insecure because she feels unwanted, then you have to make her feel needed. If you want to talk to her about her behavior, try to use an approach that would not embarrass or offend her. Show her that you respect her.
Ignoring the antics of your mother-in-law is not a good idea. It would just make her do it more often. What you need to do is to determine the cause of this behavior. Surely, your mom-in-law acts this way for a reason. You also have to evaluate your own behavior towards her. Maybe, you also have a big role why she becomes so touchy and melodramatic easily. Making an effort in straightening out your relationship with your mother-in-law would give you peace of mind, and of course, peace at home.
