When I worked in a school as a guidance counselor, I made sure that the guidance program has an awareness for bullying module in it. I assigned this as early as lower school so that the children are made aware of what is going on and how to respond to it accordingly. As bullying does take different forms, educating the young minds about it take time. However, the rewards are deemed to reap benefits for them when they grow up. In bullying, whether the child plays the role of the bully or the victim, their self-esteem or valuing for themselves is highly affected. In the bigger picture, who they become is greatly affected by how they treat peers and how their peers treat them. It is also valuable to know that girls; bullying differ from how the boys do this. It is not true that boys are more prone to bullying. Even girls are susceptible and their bullying can less obvious but more traumatic. Studies revealed that girls' bullying addresses the psychological framework more often. It can be very challenging to know when one's child is being bullied. Not all children are open about this as this makes them feel weaker. Indeed, keeping one's communication line open with their child can help a lot. In any incidence of bullying one should remember to report to authorities, especially in school.
