I never thought I should bring ant samples to an entomologist to better determine ho we can rid of them…I just knew that ants, when they come marching in, means I have likely left food scraps somewhere. Then, I clean-up. But if the ant infestation is really big in one’s home, maybe the entomologist is a great idea. Generally, I observe where they are coming from and where they are going. I would wipe the trail with a mixture of water, alcohol and dishwashing liquid. (I observed that it kills most insect on contact. I also use this and spray it on bugs at times. I read that with ants, it not only kills them but also destroys their chemical trail, making it more difficult for other ants to follow.) Then, with a cotton swab with petroleum jelly or citronella, I would wipe the area they were targeting and they stop bothering.
