You have to make sure that your food stuff are well sealed. There are also products that you can buy that are designed to prevent ants from building mound in the corners of your house.
You should not wait for the time when the ants had already established their breeding place inside your house. You have to make the necessary action the moment you see a sign of ant infestations in your home.
