How to Deal with Pesky Mosquitoes at Home
Mosquitoes are among the house pests that could seriously endanger the health of your family, especially the kids. Aside from the itchy swelling you will get from mosquito bites, there is also the danger of getting allergic reactions, malaria, and dengue. This is why it is important to get rid of mosquitoes at your home.
Things to know about mosquitoes
Only female mosquitoes bite. They do this because they need protein to be able to lay eggs after mating. There are four stages in the life cycle of a mosquito the egg, larva, pupa, and adult stages. During their larval and pupal stages, mosquitoes need to spend their time in water. The things that could attract mosquitoes easily are perspiration, warmth, body odor, carbon dioxide, and light.
How to prevent mosquito infestations in your home
It is better to prevent mosquitoes from breeding in your home, because they can be a bit difficult to eliminate once they have established their empire in your house. One way to do this is to keep your surroundings clean. You have to dispose unused tins and tires, for these store water that could serve as the breeding place for mosquitoes. You also have to clean and chlorinate swimming pools. If you have ornamental pools around, you have to stock them with fish. It is also effective to put fine screens on your window to prevent mosquitoes from entering your house.
How to get rid of mosquitoes
If there are already mosquitoes in your home, you should get rid of them before they can further lay eggs. You can use spray insecticides. There are also some traps, which work by attracting and then killing mosquitoes. If you think these are not enough, better hire an insect control operator.
You have to take mosquitoes seriously because, although they are just small house pests, they are very vicious when it comes to sucking blood and carrying diseases that could endanger your household.

I wish there were more alternatives on how to handle mosquitoes. With the rate of dengue escalating and its incidence not limited to a particular time of the year, people need to be more aware. Dengue has caused peoples’ lives and often left their loved ones without much clue. As I would definitely agree that prevention is the best approach, it will still be of benefit to know other possible measures. There are times when you don’t quite realize you have a breeding space for them in your home, like if you have a garden and insecticides can be hazardous to health, especially of children. buying mosquito predators as pets may also help, like; guppies, birds, or if you’re up o it, a bat. I guess, for places where such incidence of dengue prevails, a mass action will be required (like fumigation, perhaps). On an individual scale, the use of insect repellant products may help. Those may only be the best alternative available on hand.
