How to Deal with Caffeine Addiction

Caffeine addiction may start with just a cup of coffee a day.  Some people claim that they drink several cups of coffee because they are addicted to the taste of it.  Well, coffee is really good-tasting.  However, it is not the taste itself that makes it so addictive.  Rather, it is the caffeine substance.  Caffeine is a stimulant.  Because of this, it can help you stay awake even when your body screams for sleep. This substance can increase your alertness and physical stamina.  This substance can reduce boredom and increase the quality of your performance even if you are doing boring tasks.  These are probably the reasons why many people are dependent on caffeine to perform their daily tasks.  Caffeine is not only found in coffee, but it is also found in sodas and some energy drinks.

The substance in caffeine that makes it addictive

Caffeine has stimulant properties that could boosts the alertness level of those who consume it.  Just like the users of any other drug, caffeine users also experience  withdrawal symptoms when they quit caffeine intake.  These symptoms include headaches, sleepiness, stress, insomnia, and nervousness.

Dealing with caffeine addiction

If you are one of the millions of people who have addiction to drinks with caffeine, you have to put a stop to your addiction.  Although some experts say that caffeine addiction is not as severe and as alarming as cocaine addiction, it is still best if you put a stop to the addiction.  One of the negative effects of caffeine is that it can cause nervousness and anxiety.  Aside from this, it can lead to insomnia.  This also causes the increase in the production of stomach acid and urine.  In some cases, too much caffeine in the blood would lead to dehydration.  Because of these bad effects, you have to put an effort in cutting your caffeine intake.  Stopping coffee and soda intake right away is not an effective way to deal with your addiction.  What you should do is to decrease the amount of your daily intake of caffeine until such time when you can do away with it completely.

Understanding why too much caffeine is bad for you

Making an effort to stop your addiction to caffeine requires discipline and patient.  You still have to deal with withdrawal symptoms.  To give you the will to quit consuming caffeine, you should think of the bad effects of this substance to your health.
