Going on a picnic is an enjoyable way to spend your free time. It would be a wonderful experience to walk or sit on the grass, letting the grass blades tickle your skin. You should be aware, however, that there are various insects making their home in picnic areas. Ants, for instance, are among the insects that you will find irritating once you are on the grass. The bite of these insects may result to itching and swelling. Having to deal with ants during picnics is normal. And as long as you know how to deal with them, you won’t find any serious problem. Having to deal with insects such as ants is just a usual thing when doing outdoor activities such as having a picnic. There are actually a lot of ways to avoid ants. You should really find a spot where there is no ant hill. Scouting the area for their trail is necessary to know where you should set up your picnic basket.
What things to use
If you really want to get rid of the ants, you can use stuff that would destroy the colony of the ants or keep them away from where you set up your picnic things. Pouring vinegar on the ant colony is one way to eliminate pesky ants. Another is by pouring water with mashed chilies on the colony. To prevent these insects from going to where you set up your picnic stuff, put talcum powder around the area. If you are going to use a table, you can put the legs of the table in containers with water; ants cannot cross wet barriers.
Knowing the right way to deal with ants can ensure your comfort while you are on a picnic. It is important that before you go to have outdoor fun in a park, you carry one of the homemade ant repellents mentioned above.
